Heritiera fomes, Excoecaria agallocha, Ceriops decandra and Sonneratia apetala are the main highlights of the park, when it comes to flora. Approximately 245 genera and 334 plant species featured in the 1903 census conducted by an independent individual. Since then several more floras have been discovered while some of the experts still think that more are required to explore. Sterculiaceae and Euphorbiaceae are the main species of the mangroves found in Sundarbans. Sundari and Gewa, Poresia coaractata, Myriostachya wightiana, Imperata cylindrica, Phragmites karka, Nypa fruticans, brackish and freshwater marshes, intertidal mudflats, sandflats, sand dunes and plenty more, the list goes on and on.
